Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was carried out to determine the normal predictive equation of pulmonary function and
related factors in Korean young adult(university students) using spirometer.

Methods: Measured the FVC (Forced Vital Capacity), FEV©û (Forced Expiratory Volume in one second), ERV(expiratory reserve volume),VC(vital capacity) and surveyed body height, body weight, years. Study group was total 102(male 57, female 45)who were sampled from healthy young adults(Age is 18~28) at the shinsung university in dang gin city.

Result: The results of this study were summarized as follows : (1) FVC in male and female was 4.6¡¾0.6 L, 3.3¡¾0.4 L. FEV1 in male and female was 3.9¡¾0.5 L and 2.7 ¡¾0.4L. (2) In correlation analysis, FVC, FEV1 showed positive correlation with body height body weight and negative correlation with age. (3) The prediction equation for FVC was 0.077¡¿height(cm)N0.020¡¿yearsN0.002¡¿weightO9.387 in male, and 0.030¡¿height(cm)N0.023¡¿yearsN0.006¡¿weightO2.468in female. (4) The prediction equation for FEV1 was 0.055¡¿height(cm)O0.007¡¿yearsN0.003¡¿weightO5.855 in male, and 0.32¡¿height(cm)N0.007¡¿yearsO0.011¡¿weight (kg)O2.029 in female.

Conclusion: In conclusion, these results suggest that body height, body weight have significant association with pulmonary function. More research is need in the further for using these parameters in predictive equation.
